Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital ED – Emergency Medicine in the Texas Panhandle
Amarillo, Texas, is an interesting place. With a population of nearly 200,000 people, it's the largest town in the panhandle and the only major town between Denver, Colorado, and Dallas, Texas. So what's so special about a relatively small town in the mid-west? Not only is the town of Amarillo steeped in history, but it is also home to Baptist St. Anthony's hospital, one of the top ranked hospitals in the US to work in health care (Modern Health care Magazine).
Baptist St. Anthony's is the 4th largest employer in Amarillo, with over 450 physicians and 2,700 employees on Staff. BSA was ranked as one of the top 50 hospitals in the entire US, according to US News & World Report from 2005-2008. This hospital system is known for its community-building activities, such as the St. Mary's Catholic School Adopt-A-School program, and for supporting community programs such as CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and the Susan Komen "For the Cure" foundation.
Amarillo Emergency Physicians has been a stable group for 15 years and has recently taken on the ED at Baptist St Anthony's, a 43,000 annual volume department. They are looking to add two full time partners.
The doctors that make up Amarillo Emergency Physicians prove to be a tightly knit group, helping each other with home projects; going to each other's kid's birthday parties; and spending time together outside of the ED. This level of friendship and respect carries over into the workplace.
Amarillo Emergency Physicians doctors work together to run, manage, and staff the BSA ED; with their main objective to provide the best quality care to members of the Amarillo, and surrounding, community.
Amarillo Emergency Physicians is a democratic group, where each physician is an equal partner. After one year of work, a physician becomes eligible for partnership. Compensation, based on productivity, averages $220 an hour.
"The work is distributed equally. We do our own schedule month to month," states Hudson. "Almost always, the schedule requests are accommodated. The key is flexibility. This is not a burn-out job. This is a job one can work indefinitely."
Here are some stats on working for Amarillo Emergency Physicians at Baptist St. Anthony's in Amarillo, Texas:
- Average pay is $220/hour
- Each physician is an owner of the group = everyone shares the financial success
- 55 hours of coverage per day
- 8 hour shifts, no mid-level providers
- Flexible number of shifts per month
- 5 year stable contract with the hospital
Amarillo Emergency Physicians are looking for 2 full-time ABEM BC/BP physicians to join their group. If you are interested, email me at erika@affilion.com for more details.
